Plans changed? Close the loop on your paratransit reservation
How to identify the affected trip, use the program’s cancellation process, and keep the rest of the day’s reservations clear.

An appointment cancellation can leave a transportation reservation active unless someone updates it. The same is true when a family member offers a ride or an activity finishes early. Use the responsible paratransit program’s current instructions to change the booking, then check what remains on the day’s itinerary.
Find the reservation you actually need to change
Have the trip date, pickup location, destination, and booking reference available if the program provides one. Identify whether the change affects the outbound trip, the return, or a different leg. Similar reservations on consecutive days can be easy to confuse.
If someone helps manage bookings, agree on which person will contact the program. A clear owner reduces the chance that two people request different changes or each assumes the other has canceled the trip.
Use the program’s approved channel
Check the current rider instructions for cancellation and trip changes. Use the designated phone line, app, website, or other method the program supports. Letting the appointment office know is not the same as notifying the transportation program.
Follow the program’s timing requirements and ask about any policy questions directly. Avoid relying on a deadline remembered from another service. This guide does not set cancellation rules or determine whether a particular event is counted under a program’s policies.
Confirm what happens to the return
Ask whether the return reservation remains active when the outbound trip is canceled. If someone drives you to the appointment but you still need the booked ride home, make that distinction explicit.
Conversely, if you no longer need either trip, confirm that both have been canceled. A calendar entry labeled round trip may represent separate bookings in the program’s system. Read back the affected date and legs before ending the interaction.
Keep a simple record of the change
Retain the confirmation or updated trip information the program provides. If there is no visible confirmation, ask how to check that the change was recorded. Note when you contacted the program and which trip you discussed.
If a vehicle still arrives after a cancellation you believe was recorded, contact the program through its trip assistance process. Provide the booking details and confirmation you retained. Let the program review the record rather than assuming that a conversation resolved the system entry.
Review recurring reservations separately
For a recurring activity, ask whether canceling one date affects future reservations. An extended break may require a different process from canceling a single trip. Confirm the date service should resume and any steps you must take before then.
A few minutes spent confirming the remaining itinerary can prevent uncertainty later. Contact Cathay about the transportation arrangements relevant to your service, and use the responsible program’s current procedures for eligibility, booking, cancellation, and policy questions.
