01

The challenge changes with the school year

School transportation does not stand still after the first day. New placements, revised bell times, added trips and pickup changes can affect drivers, attendants, vehicles and existing schedules at the same time.

Each request has to be tested against the full operating plan. The team must understand the timing, match the right vehicle and staff, protect existing service and give the district a clear answer grounded in what can work each day.

02

How Cathay responds

As district needs evolved, Cathay reviewed the complete operating plan and worked through practical options for additional buses and trip support. The Nassau Operations Manager connects each request to the people who schedule, operate and maintain the service.

That connection matters. It means a proposed solution reflects route timing, staff availability, vehicle readiness and the effect on students already being served—not just the request in isolation.

03

A team built for Nassau County

Cathay brought together public transit leaders with experience in Nassau County's fixed-route and paratransit environment and school bus subject-matter experts. The transit team contributes local knowledge, service planning, dispatch and performance management.

The school bus team contributes district coordination, student transportation requirements, routing, and driver and attendant assignments. Together, they make decisions around district needs and the realities of the local operating environment.
